Though it's only one street long, you'll be surprised at the variety of shops, boutiques, restaurants, and food stores in this nine block shopping area, extending from the Powhite Parkway to the Boulevard. If you want to see it all, allow yourself plenty of time to walk up one side and down the other.

There are more than 300 stores and professional offices lining both sides of Cary Street and along the side streets. From antiques to CDs to clothing to furniture, you'll find just about anything you desire in the distinctive shops and boutiques along these blocks. Businesses in Carytown seem to develop spontaneously in no particular order. Expect to be in an Oriental rug store one minute, and in a pet store the next. Shopping in the Carytown district is a unique experience and a lot of fun!

The majority of Carytown shops are open from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Saturday. Some stay open later depending on the season, and a few shops are also open on Sunday. Don't forget about the more than 25 places to eat if you need refueling after a day of shopping. Have a seat in a table by the window and watch the people go by any time of day!
